"Baby Think It Over" is a teen pregnancy prevention program designed to help teens consider choices they have when it comes to their sexual behavior, including consequences that can arise from some of their decisions. The "Baby Think It Over" is an infant simulator that requires the student to respond to "Baby’s" cries and determine what their infant needs (feeding, burping, rocking, and diapering). The student is required to take “Baby” home and provide the necessary care for the entire weekend, both day and night. The simulator electronically monitors how the student handles "Baby" to ensure there is no neglect or abuse.
The program is provided in middle schools and high schools throughout Fulton County. A Health Department educator provides presentations in the classroom on teen parenting, including discussions on child abuse, shaken baby syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, effects of drug use during pregnancy, and financial hardships often experienced by teen parents. In addition, parents can also privately arrange for their adolescent to have a weekend experience by contacting the "Baby Think It Over" coordinator at 419-337-0915.
